The countdown begins for the most important sailing competition in the world, with 174 years of history. From the organization, they have announced the regatta schedule and in Port Fòrum we give you all the details.
The teams
It will be three months of intense competition for these six teams:
- Emirates Team New Zealand (New Zealand), winner of the 36th America’s Cup and Cup defender.
- INEOS Britannia (UK), the first team to compete with Emirates Team New Zealand in the Challenger of Record.
- Alinghi Red Bull Racing (Switzerland).
- Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Italy).
- American Magic New York Yacht Club (United States).
- Orient Express Racing Team (France).
Key moments
Rules for the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup will begin on August 22nd and will follow this schedule:

August 20 to 22: Official opening.
August 22 to 25: Start of the last preliminary regatta.
August 29th to October 7th: Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Selection Series, to determine the team that will face Emirates Team New Zealand. The top four teams will compete in a semi-final with the first team to score 5 points winning, and the two winners will advance to the Final Match Race. The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the team with the first 7 points, will face Emirates Team New Zealand, the defender of the 37th America’s Cup.
August 29 to September 11: Round Robin.
From September 14 to 23: the semifinal will be held.
From September 26 to October 7: the final will be played.
September 10 to 26: Youth America’s Cup.
September 28 to October 13: Puig Women’s America’s Cup.
October 12 to 27: Start of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Match.

The final match
From October 12 to 27, the 13-race competition will pit the defending Cup champions, Emirates Team New Zealand, against the winning team of the Challenger Selection Series. A best-of-thirteen series (the first team to seven wins wins), which will make this year’s winner the defending champion for next year’s edition.
The competition continues
Port Fòrum has been designated “Preferred Marina” for the 37th America’s Cup, offering a premium mooring reservation system and VIP services for sailors who want to follow the races from a privileged location.
