From March 11 to 15, Port Fòrum opens its doors to history, adventure and excitement with the arrival of the Galeón Andalucía, an historical replica of the ship used by the Spanish during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, in the maritime expeditions of discovery and inter-oceanic trade between Spain, America and the Philippines of the so-called fleets of the Indies.
These days, the port offers a different experience to enjoy with the family in Barcelona: a unique opportunity to learn how people sailed centuries ago and visit an authentic historic ship. The ship has not visited the city since 2022 and this stop is part of its European tour in 2026.
The Galeón Andalucía is a faithful replica of the great Spanish galleons that, between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, starred in the expeditions of discovery and inter-oceanic trade in the famous fleets of the Indies.
At 49 meters long, these ships were true giants of their time. They could carry up to 1,200 tons and travel long Atlantic and Pacific crossings safely and efficiently.
The current replica is the result of an ambitious naval research project. After three years of study in historical archives and six months of technical design, 150 people dedicated 17 months to its construction.
With four masts and six sails, she has sailed oceans all over the world, participating in international events and proving that history is still alive.
The visit to the Galleon will allow you to discover the ship at your own pace. Once on board, you will be able to walk freely around the 5 decks, talk to the sailors who live and work on the ship and immerse yourself in life on board centuries ago. During the tour you will find interactive exhibits, videos, projections and historical documents that will help you understand what sailing was like at that time.
